How we use your information

Technical Comms Limited is responsible for personal information processed through the current BuildRite website.

The free project check works in your browser. Its answers are not sent to BuildRite and are not saved in a BuildRite account. If you print or save a result as a PDF, it is saved only where you choose on your own device.

If you create an account, we process your email address, sign-in details, optional profile details and the time you accepted our terms and privacy notice. Google sign-in shares basic account details with our sign-in provider when you choose it. We use these details to provide secure access and protect accounts.

When you create a project record, we store its title, postcode, description, project type, your role and changes made in the account. The postcode is checked against an external postcode service to confirm that the current account service is available in England. People you invite to a project will be able to see the relevant shared record. Do not include payment card details, bank details or sensitive personal information in project descriptions.

If a project member uploads a photo or document, we store the file and its filename, type, size, uploader and time alongside the project record. Other invited members of that project can open it. Do not upload payment card details, bank details or unrelated sensitive information.

For a paid organiser plan, Stripe hosts checkout and subscription management and handles your payment card details. BuildRite receives the Stripe customer and subscription references, subscription status and renewal date needed to provide access and maintain billing records; we do not store your full card number. Stripe’s own processing is described in its privacy policy.

We use Supabase for account access and project records. The BuildRite data project is hosted in the London region. Our website host and security providers may also process technical information. Google processes sign-in information when you choose Google. Providers may process some information outside the UK under their own service terms and applicable safeguards.

We process account and project details to deliver the service you request. We use essential security information to protect the service, normally because of our legitimate interest in keeping it secure. We keep account and project records while the account is open and afterwards only where needed for legal obligations, security or resolving a dispute. You can ask us to close an account or delete information; we will explain any information we must retain.

Our hosting and security providers may process limited technical information such as your IP address, browser details and security information to keep the website available and protect it from abuse. We use this information to run and secure the site, normally because we have a legitimate interest in doing so.

We do not sell personal information or use advertising or analytics tracking on the current website. We share account and project information with providers that help us run the service and with project participants you choose to invite.

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or data portability where the law gives you those rights. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Contact us at support@buildrite.homes or write to the postal address above.

Cookie notice

One essential security cookie

The current site uses the Cloudflare __cf_bm cookie to help protect the website from bots and abuse. It is a strictly necessary security cookie and normally expires after 30 minutes of inactivity.

We do not currently use advertising, analytics or preference cookies. You can control cookies in your browser, but blocking essential security cookies may stop parts of the website working properly.

Website terms

Using BuildRite

The free project check helps people organise questions and find relevant official sources. It is not legal, planning, engineering, Building Control or other professional advice. You must confirm the right route with the relevant local authority, Building Control body and suitable professionals.

BuildRite does not grant permission, approve Building Control requirements, certify work, recommend or verify any builder, architect or other professional. It is not a party to an agreement between a homeowner and a builder.

BuildRite does not hold, move, release, approve or receive money owed between project parties. Any invoice or payment remains a direct arrangement between those parties.

A signed-in homeowner can start an England project draft. Invited members can contribute to a shared project record without paying. A draft is not a confirmed construction contract or a regulatory assessment.

Account holders are responsible for accurate information and for deciding who to invite to a project. A record of a decision shows what the parties reported; it is not a BuildRite inspection, certification or payment instruction. Project information is available only to signed-in members of that project.

First-time organiser subscribers can start with a 7-day free trial. A payment method is required at sign-up, but no subscription fee is charged during the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the plan then costs £29 per month, including VAT where applicable to a UK customer, charged in advance and renewing monthly. Returning subscribers who have used a BuildRite plan before restart at £29 per month without another trial. There is no annual commitment. The final price and tax treatment are displayed before you confirm. One subscribing account may organise its own projects; invited project members can contribute without buying a plan of their own. Subscription fees pay for BuildRite access, not construction work or money owed between project members.

You can cancel future renewals from the billing section of your BuildRite account. Cancellation during a free trial leaves access until the trial ends and avoids the first subscription charge. Cancellation during a paid period normally leaves paid access in place until the end of that period. After the plan ends, the project team can view existing records but cannot add or change project information unless the organiser rejoins. You can also ask us for help at support@buildrite.homes.

If you are a consumer, you may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of your first subscription purchase. Contact us to exercise any legal cancellation or refund right; cancelling a future renewal in your account is not a substitute for a statutory refund request. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

Using the website

We aim to make BuildRite clear, readable, usable with a keyboard and practical on a phone. We have not claimed conformance with a specific technical accessibility standard.
